Each semester the Graduate School compiles a list of graduate students who are candidates for graduation and those students who must reapply because they did not meet one or more of their degree requirements by the deadline date. This list is shared with program coordinators and allows them to identify discrepancies and requirements for students in their program. Students who must reapply to graduate are informed via an academic alert email.

Tentative graduation list
Includes active candidates for the award of the degree and lists all students (grouped by program) who have applied to graduate for the selected term. This section also includes students’ requirements and discrepancy statuses.
All requirements are listed for each student with a status (cleared, required, etc.)
The Graduation Status will show one of three statuses:
- Application for Graduation GS25 form on file: student has applied to graduate for a specific term and the file needs to be checked.
- Preliminary Review for Graduation (GS25) and date: student’s file has been reviewed for graduation.
- Awarded and Conferral Date: degree has been conferred at the end of the semester.
Definitions and details included in the Tentative Graduation List
A status of “Required” or “Not Resolved” indicates a requirement has not yet been completed and must be cleared by the deadline for graduation clearance requirements, if the student is to graduate this term. The deadline for graduation clearance requirements is the last deadline listed each semester.
The only exception to the clearance requirements deadline regards the “Required” action related to “Current Semester Grades”. The Graduate School will receive and review current semester grades through ARIES and clearance will be determined upon posting grades. Departments must review the report and contact students reapplying to graduate.
Reasons students receive a “Required” or “Not Resolved” notation and actions needed in order for students to graduate in the current term.
Non-Thesis Plan B Masters: GS40 form requirement for paper or project or portfolio
Current Semester Grades: The Graduate School will receive and review current semester grades through ARIES and clearance will be determined upon posting grades.
Incomplete grade / no grade: Submit grade change to the Record’s Office by the clearance deadline requirement. Please note this date is earlier than the date current semester grades are due.
Course Discrepancies: GS52 refer to your Graduate Degree Plan
Committee Discrepancies: GS9A or Appropriate Update
Graduate Enrollment Requirement: Graduate degree and certificate candidates must be either enrolled for at least one credit or must register for continuous registration (CR) during the term (fall, spring, or summer) they will complete their requirements.
Other considerations
Distance Degree Program Grades: The normal schedule of reporting grades for Distance Degree Program courses is different than for regular courses. To avoid delaying graduation to a subsequent term, remind students to alert Distance Degree Program instructors that grades need to be submitted by the on-campus grade deadline date. If students anticipate a problem with grades not being submitted by the deadline date, the student or department should inform the Graduate School of such anticipated delays.
Must reapply to graduate
Students on this list have been removed from the graduation list because they did not meet the requirements for graduation and must reapply for a future term. Indicates those who did not meet one or more of the following deadlines:
- GS25 Application for Graduation form
- GS24 Report of Final Examination Results
- GS30 Thesis/Dissertation Submission (if applicable)
These individuals will not graduate this semester term and must reapply for graduation for a future term. The reapply section is at the end of the report.
