GS25 Application for Graduation Instructions

Master’s and Doctoral Students, congratulations on planning to graduate this semester!

Remember, graduate degree candidates must either be enrolled for at least one credit or registered for continuous registration (CR) during the term you are graduating.

A student must apply for graduation by the published academic Deadline Date of the student’s graduating term. Students who applied to graduate in a previous term and would like to update their graduation term must reapply for graduation by the published deadline.

Important Deadlines

Apply to Graduate: The deadline to apply for spring 2025 graduation is Thursday, Feb. 13.

Summer 2025 graduates: If you plan to graduate in the summer of 2025 and would like your name published in the Spring 2025 Commencement Program, you must submit your GS6 Program of Study by March 6. Access the GS6 form on RAMweb.

Steps to graduate and participate in commencement

1. Submit your GS25 Application for Graduation

Students applying to graduate this semester for the first time must submit the GS25 form, which can be accessed via RAMweb. Your GS25 Application for Graduation Form contains four sections. Section one is completed through RAMweb. Sections two through four are completed by the student and the department.

If you previously applied for graduation but need to change your term, submit a reapplication for graduation via RAMWeb. The online reapplication process must be completed prior to the deadline date posted for the student’s graduating term. Your application status will be updated by the published deadline date.

2. Review Key Deadline Dates

Add these deadline dates to your calendar with reminders to ensure you stay on track.

If graduating in a different department and/or degree program than you were admitted to the GS7 Request for Change of Department and/or Degree Program must be submitted and processed prior to the date when registration closes in the semester you apply to graduate. Registration dates are available from the Registrar’s website.

3. Review your committee information

On RAMweb, go to Graduate School > Graduate Degree Plan > Committee to confirm you have the correct committee on file.

If your committee is incorrect, submit a GS9A Petition for Committee Member Changes via  RAMweb  to avoid delays in routing forms for electronic signatures.

4. Complete forms early

Start forms as soon as possible onRAMwebto allow time to collect all required signatures before each deadline. Use  best practices for collecting signatures.

5. Thesis or Dissertation Formatting Reviews

If you’re writing a thesis or dissertation, the Graduate School offers remote formatting reviews for electronic thesis and dissertation PDFs.

Resources and instructions for submitting your thesis or dissertation can be found on the Graduate School’s Thesis and Dissertation webpage. The website includes sample webpages and a detailed guide to organizing and formatting your thesis and dissertation.
