Volunteer to judge at the GradShow on Nov. 19, 2025!
CSU instructors, faculty, researchers, and postdoctoral scholars can volunteer their time and expertise at the GradShow.
As a judge, you will help determine the distribution of $23k+ in awards. Using a standard rubric, you will evaluate presentations from students across various disciplines, giving them experience in communicating their work to diverse audiences. All judging will be in person in the Grand Ballroom and in adjacent rooms.
Judges can sign up for either one or two time slots; each time slot requires about one hour of your time. You may sign up as a judge in one time slot (assigned a maximum of five submissions) or both time slots (assigned 10 submissions).
Judging should take at least one hour per time slot, but judges have up to 1.5 hours to complete judging their assigned posters. Or you may sign up as a Power Judge — but the two types of judging cannot be combined.
Judge Time Slots
- GREEN – 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (check in no later than 10:00 a.m.) – Judge a maximum of five proposals.
- GOLD – 10:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. (check in no later than 11:00 a.m.) – Judge a maximum of five proposals.
Power Judges
Additionally, we are seeking experienced judges to serve as “Power Judges” who can step in as needed to ensure all presentations are judged. Power Judges are not assigned a fixed set of proposals, but instead provide flexible coverage for any last-minute cancellations or incomplete evaluations. Prior judging experience is preferred, and Power Judges should be prepared to adapt quickly and take on unexpected assignments, including judging-related event support. Two time slots are available:
- Power Judges, GREEN: 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. (check in no later than 10:15 a.m.) – Complete unfinished judging
- Power Judges, GOLD: 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. (check in no later than 11:15 a.m.) – Complete unfinished judging
Thank you in advance for considering this request to be a GradShow judge and for supporting graduate students!
