Each course has two associated deadlines: a drop deadline and a withdrawal deadline. When considering dropping or withdrawing, first confirm the deadlines associated with your course(s) to determine which of the following policies apply to you for:
- Dropping a Credit Course
- Withdrawing from a Credit Course
- Semester Withdrawal
What should be considered before dropping a credit course?
- Non-attendance (not participating in a course) does not automatically drop you from the course and it does not relieve you of the academic consequences or the cost of tuition and fees.
- Changes made to your class schedule may impact your financial obligation to the University and your eligibility for financial aid. Contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss the impact to your financial aid.
- If you are dropping your last or only course of the fall or spring term, review the Semester Withdrawal considerations below.
- Add, drop, and withdrawal options are available on your Full My Weekly Schedule, Registered Courses, via RAMweb.

What should be considered before withdrawing from a credit course?
- When you withdraw from a course, the course and a grade of ‘W’ will appear on your transcript – this has no effect on GPA.
- Non-attendance (not participating in a course) does not automatically withdraw you from the course and it does not relieve you of the academic consequences or the cost of tuition and fees.
- Any changes made to your class schedule may impact your financial obligation to the University and your eligibility for financial aid. Contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss the impact to your financial aid.

Refund Eligibility
There is no refund of charges associated with the course in the case of a withdrawal for an on-campus course. For charges associated with withdrawing from a Continuing Education online course, please go to CSU Online.
How are course drops and withdrawals different?
Dropping a course means that it will not appear on the transcript.
- Students may drop courses online without penalty during the Add/Drop period.
- Dropping a course within the Add/Drop period will result in a full refund of tuition and fees. The course will not appear on your transcript.
- Failure to attend class does not qualify as a drop.
- Unless you officially drop a course, you are responsible for full tuition and fees.
- Failure to attend class does not qualify as a withdrawal.
- Withdrawing from a course does not result in a refund. CSU online courses differ in tuition refunds. Please check the CSU Online website for withdrawal details.
What should be considered before a Semester Withdrawal?
If you wish to withdraw from all courses in fall or spring term, you must complete a Semester Withdrawal Application in RAMweb.
Consider the following before withdrawing from your course(s):
- By completing a Semester Withdrawal, you will be removed from your degree program. It is important that you speak with your department advisor about the impact a Semester Withdrawal to your degree and academic requirements.
- Students who withdraw from all courses in a fall or spring semester must be readmitted before enrolling in the future.
- Withdrawing from the University does not eliminate your financial obligations to CSU. You are responsible for any charges owed to the University at the time you withdraw. Withdrawing from the University will impact your financial aid.
- Add, drop and withdraw dates are available on your My Weekly Schedule under Registered Courses, via RAMweb.
The Semester Withdrawal deadline is the Friday of the last day of classes (before Final Exams week).
If you wish to withdraw from the University, visit RAMweb.
