The final approval for your application is made by the Graduate School, but the recommendation to admit is made by the department in which you intend to study. Departments may have requirements in addition to or more stringent than those of the University. It is critical that you review the specific departmental requirements on your department’s website well in advance of the application deadline. When applying using the online application system, most documents are uploaded directly by the applicant. For documents that cannot be submitted through the application system, such as official transcripts and test scores, request the documents be sent to the Office of Admissions:

Graduate Certificate Program Application
Update your professional profile and advance your career by developing new skills and expertise in a specialized area. We offer a mix of certificates both online and on campus with more being developed each term. For available certificate programs and information including program contact information, please visit our program pages. Certificate-seeking students require a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Check with your departmental program contact for additional requirements they may have.
Certificate Program Application Requirements (including fee, transcript /credential, TOEFL/IELTS/PTE Scores)
- APPLICATION – you must apply and be accepted into a certificate program.
- APPLICATION FEE – $60 non-refundable application fee
- ON-CAMPUS CERTIFICATES – Due to immigration regulations, only international students currently enrolled in a CSU on-campus degree program may be accepted into certificates offered on campus. Distance certificates are available to all international students.
- OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT/CREDENTIAL & CERTIFIED TRANSLATIONS – One official transcript or mark sheet from the institution where bachelor’s degree was earned is required. All records submitted must be in the native language; any credentials written in languages other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. Colorado State University transcripts are not required.
- ADDITIONAL DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS – Please visit our program pages for program contact information, website, deadlines, and additional information.
- FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS – in addition to the above requirements:
- ENGLISH PROFICIENCY – Regardless of citizenship, applicants may be required to demonstrate proof of English proficiency. Request that examination scores be reported to Colorado State University. The institution code is 4075. Photocopies will not be accepted.
- Minimum TOEFL score for admission without condition is 550 (paper based), or 80 (internet based).
- Minimum IELTS score for admission without condition is 6.5.
- Minimum PTE score for admission without condition is 58.
- Your department may have higher TOEFL/IELTS/PTE score requirements.
- Students are exempted from the English Proficiency requirement if the official language of their country is English or if they have recently earned a degree at an American University. List of TOEFL exempt countries.
- ENGLISH PROFICIENCY – Regardless of citizenship, applicants may be required to demonstrate proof of English proficiency. Request that examination scores be reported to Colorado State University. The institution code is 4075. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Degree Program Application Requirements (including fee, transcript /credential, TOEFL/IELTS/PTE Scores)
- APPLICATION – you must apply and be accepted into a degree program.
- APPLICATION FEE – $60 (U.S. citizen/permanent resident), $70 (international) non-refundable application fee
- GRE/GMAT SCORES – Contact the academic department to verify whether the GRE/GMAT is required. For program contact information, please visit our program pages. The GRE department code can be found at www.ets.org.
- OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS/CREDENTIAL & CERTIFIED TRANSLATIONS – Official transcripts or mark sheets and any certificates, diplomas, or degrees from each college or university attended is required regardless of the length of attendance, including courses in progress. Final records will be required upon completion of the course or degree. ALL records submitted must be in the native language; any credentials written in languages other than English MUST be accompanied by a certified English translation (Colorado State University transcripts are not required).
- LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION – There is no standardized format unless specified by the academic department. Letters of recommendation are processed and submitted automatically. Your recommenders will be notified and prompted to supply a recommendation letter through the system.

Application for Degree Program
The submission of any false information or fraudulent documents in connection with the application process is grounds for rejection of the application or dismissal from the Graduate School regardless of the nature of other credentials.
