GradSpace — You Belong Here

The GradSpace is a space exclusively designed for CSU graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

The Graduate School created this new space for the graduate community to provide a designated place for students and postdocs from across the university to connect with peers. It’s a great place to socialize, work, collaborate, recharge, and find your graduate community. 

Hours and Location

In the General Services Building, Suite 203

Monday — Thursdays: 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Fridays: 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Closed on weekends, and on university holidays.

Events at the GradSpace

The GradSpace hosts meetings and social gatherings led by graduate student organizations. Find more events specific to graduate students on the Graduate School Events Calendar.

ETD Drop-In Hours

Preparing your thesis or dissertation for submission? Stop by for guidance on formatting requirements, organization, key deadlines, and how to access official ETD resources. Find hours on the Graduate School Events Calendar.

Rooms and Spaces

The GradSpace offers drop-in communal areas, a reservable meeting room, and study spaces and a mixed use quiet space.

The suite also serves as a hub for meetings, training sessions, and workshops. Learn more in the room descriptions below.

Reservable Meeting Room

The GRADitude Room is exclusively available for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to reserve.

  • Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • No reservation fees.
  • Reservations can be made up to 182 days in advance.
  • Maximum occupancy: 30.
  • Features an 85″ wall-mounted display for presentations or hybrid meetings — USB and HDMI (including HDMI to USB-C adaptor) cables are provided.
  • Microsoft Teams Room system, a keyboard, and a mouse.
  • Logitech Rally camera and audio
  • IT support is not provided.
  • Please leave the keyboard, mouse, and controllers where you found them so they’re available for the next group.

How to reserve the GRADitude room
Graduate students and postdocs can reserve the room directly through Microsoft Teams or Outlook calendar using a university email account:
  • Sign in to your university email account
  • Create a meeting in Microsoft Teams or Outlook calendar.
  • Invite everyone who will attend the meeting.
  • Add GRAD GRADitude Room as the meeting room / location.
  • If the room is available, it will automatically accept the invitation. You’ll receive an acceptance email confirming your reservation.
Note: If you need to invite additional participants after scheduling the meeting, you can update the meeting invitation or forward it to them from Outlook or Microsoft Teams.

Study Spaces

No reservations are required; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Scholar Nook: This area includes two double desks and four individual desks, with sit-stand options for the individual desks.
  • GradPod: A private study room designed for one person, ideal for focused work or study.

Kitchen and Leisure Spaces

  • Kitchenette: Equipped with a shared refrigerator, microwave, and counter space for your convenience.
  • GradPad: A communal leisure area featuring comfortable seating, tables, and lockers for temporary personal storage.

Restorative Nook

This private room provides a quieter space for various purposes, including:

  • Refuge space
  • Prayer
  • Meditation
  • Reflection
  • Virtual meetings

The GradSpace designed to meet the diverse needs of our graduate student and postdoctoral scholar community. This common area is here to support your academic journey, foster connections, and offer a quiet refuge when needed. Please help us maintain an environment that is respectful, inclusive, and welcoming for all. 

General Principles: 

  • Respect and courtesy: Treat fellow users with kindness and consideration. Respect each other’s needs, whether it’s for quiet study, collaboration, or relaxation.
  • Shared responsibility: Keep the space clean, safe, and ready for others to use. Please tidy up after yourself and report any maintenance concerns to [email protected]. 
  • Inclusivity: This space is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Use it in a way that fosters a sense of belonging for everyone and follows CSU’s Principles of Community
