Usage Policy

Welcome to Your Space!

The GradSpace designed to meet the diverse needs of our graduate student and postdoctoral scholar community. This common area is here to support your academic journey, foster connections, and offer a quiet refuge when needed. Please help us maintain an environment that is respectful, inclusive, and welcoming for all.

General Principles

  • Respect and courtesy: Treat fellow users with kindness and consideration. Respect each other’s needs, whether it’s for quiet study, collaboration, or relaxation.
  • Shared responsibility: Keep the space clean, safe, and ready for others to use. Please tidy up after yourself and report any maintenance concerns to [email protected].
  • Inclusivity: This space is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Use it in a way that fosters a sense of belonging for everyone and follows the Principles of Community.

Space-Specific Guidelines

GradPad/Lounge area:

  • A place for informal gatherings, reading, or relaxation.
  • Keep noise levels moderate and use headphones for personal devices.

Kitchenette:

  • Feel free to store and prepare food, but label and date items that are left in the refrigerator. Unlabeled items may be discarded weekly.
  • Clean up spills, wash your dishes, and leave appliances as you found them. Cleaning supplies are provided.

GRADitude Meeting Space:

  • Use tools and equipment responsibly, ensuring they are returned to their proper place.
  • Clean up afterwards and ensure furniture is arranged in an orderly way for the next group.  Cleaning supplies are located in the kitchenette.
  • Be mindful of shared resources and allow others to access the space fairly.

Scholar Nook/Study Area:

  • Designed for focused, quiet work.
  • Avoid occupying more space than needed and share outlets and desks when possible.

Private Rooms:

  • Intended for studying, resting, or quiet reflection.
  • Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please limit use to 30 minutes if others are waiting.
  • Leave the room clean and ready for the next person.

Hours

Hours are set based on building access and university closures and published at graduateschool.colostate.edu/current-students/gradspace.

Workshop Space Reservations:

  • Cancellations are requested but not required. Please contact the Graduate School graduateschool.colostate.edu with any cancellations. If the room is not occupied within ten minutes of the reservation start time, the space is available to other interested parties.
  • Graduate Student Council, the CSU Postdoc Association, and graduate student affinity groups financially supported by the Graduate School will be contacted by the Graduate School and have priority with reservations.
  • Reservations can only be made by graduate students and postdoctoral scholars or with approval from the Graduate School for activities that will involve graduate students and/or postdoctoral scholars.
  • Reservations are subject to availability and restriction. You may be contacted by the Graduate School and asked to adjust a reservation if it is long in order to accommodate others.
  • If you are holding an after-hours event, please coordinate with the Graduate School to determine if the GradSpace can be made available.

Reporting Issues

If you encounter any maintenance concerns, inappropriate behavior, or unsafe conditions, please report them promptly to [email protected].

This space is a reflection of our community. By treating it with care and respect, we ensure it remains a valuable resource for all graduate students. Please use common sense about what is appropriate and inappropriate use of the space. Thank you for contributing to a positive and inclusive atmosphere. Enjoy the space!
