What is the minimum TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score for admission without condition?

Per the Graduate and Professional Bulletin, 550 (Paper based) or 80 (internet based) for TOEFL; 6.5 for IELTS; 58 for PTE (Departments may have a higher requirement)

What is the the PLACE program?

Programs for Learning Academic and Community English (PLACE) at Colorado State University provides high-quality English language instruction and training in a safe and friendly academic environment. Find more information at the PLACE website

Please note: as of May 17, 2021, the INTO Center no longer runs these programs. The CSU’s Office of International Programs manages them now.

Is English proficiency required for a student that became a permanent resident?

Yes. Regardless of citizenship, applicants are required to demonstrate proof of English language proficiency if they do not have a degree from an institution where the primary language of instruction is English.  Proof of English language proficiency is required for applicants who completed undergraduate degrees in countries or United States territories where there are official languages other than or in addition to English. This includes the United States territories of America Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Puerto Rico.
