INTO CSU Graduate Pathway
INTO CSU Graduate Pathway Students Applying Directly to a Different Degree Program FAQs
What are the requirements that INTO CSU graduate Pathway students must meet if they apply directly for a degree program that is different from their Pathway degree program?
These students must meet all of the entry requirements for the new degree program. This includes providing the required TOEFL or IELTS score for direct entry. Students may not waive the direct TOEFL requirement through completion of the English for Academic (EAP) classes during their Pathway Program. For example, if an INTO CSU student successfully completes the Early Career MBA pathway, but decides to apply directly to the Masters in Finance program, instead of progressing to the ECMBA degree program, the student would need to meet the academic entry requirements and the direct entry TOEFL requirements for the Masters in Finance program.
Why can’t INTO CSU students waive the direct TOEFL requirement for the new degree program through completion of the English for Academic (EAP) classes during the Pathway program?
The curriculum for the graduate EAP classes is differentiated according to the student’s specific Pathway program. In this way, the students will receive the most relevant English language instruction, including exposure to the types of assignments, vocabulary, readings and other materials common in their degree program and field of study. Therefore, a student who applies to a new degree program will most likely not have taken the EAP classes relevant to that new degree program.
Are there financial consequences related to Pathway students making changes to their original Pathway study
Yes. Pathway students who are considering making changes to their original Pathway study plan, including applying directly to a different graduate degree program, need to consult the Terms and Conditions (www.intostudy.com/csu/terms) they agreed to when they accepted their INTO CSU Pathway offer to determine the financial implications associated with changes to their Pathway program. They should also consult with the INTO CSU Finance Specialist/ Advisor
What information do graduate Pathway students receive about applying directly to a new graduate program?
Each graduate PWY student is assigned to an Academic Advisor at INTO CSU. Students must meet with their advisors to initiate any type of program change, including applying directly to a degree program that is different from their Pathway degree program. At that time, the students are told by their advisors that they will be required to meet all of the academic and English language requirements for direct entry to the new program, including achieving the required TOEFL or IELTS scores.
